MERRY CHRISTMAS

The whole recent debate about saying "Merry Christmas" vs "Happy Holidays", public nativity scenes, and so on, is very annoying to me. If the American taliban (christian right) had their way we would have state sanctioned holidays. But guess what! The American taliban is not in control yet and the last I heard Americans were free to celebrate any religion they wanted. So in that case, I think it's better to say "Happy Holidays" and not to assume everyone is Christian. But you know what the funny thing is about this debate? Christmas in America is really not a Christian holiday at all, it's a mass consumption holiday that boosts the economy. So that brings me to the conclusion that "Merry Christmas" is really a patriotic statement. No one should really be offended by "Merry Christmas". We may not all be Christians, but aren't we all Americans?
Problem solved!
