"Strange" Meme

I've been tagged by Pendullum to do a six strange things meme. It's kind of hard to come up with weird things about yourself. One person's weird is another person's normal. I could tell you I like the smell of dog feet, but Cameo already listed that one when she did this meme a long time ago. (In fact, that's one of the things that bonds us as friends. "You like the smell of dog feet? Me too!") I mostly just came up with stuff that you wouldn't know about me unless you knew me well.
So here goes.

1. I was almost adopted.
My Mother was in her first year at Vassar and had plans that didn't include a baby. Her roommate had an Aunt and Uncle who wanted to adopt. He was a doctor and they were Jewish and lived in NYC. It was set. I guess my parents changed their minds the day I was born. They called my Grandparents and said "Hey, guess what! We have a baby!" I don't know if that's what they said exactly, but really, it had to be something like that. I'm very happy that my parents decided to keep me, even though I think I would of made a great Jewish girl from New York.

2. I was an only child till the age of 11. I now have 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

3. I have voted in every Presidential election since turning 18. I voted for Dukakis one month after my birthday. Unfortunately I learned the pain of voting for the loser(Democrat) at an early age.

4. I was really surprised when George Michael came out.
My gaydar must be seriously broke. I mean the man wore hot pants for chrisake!

5. I ate brussel sprouts, sardines, spam, lima beans and spinach when I was a kid. This is weird due to the fact my kids would choose death over letting any one of those foods come near them.

6. I'm double jointed in both arms.

Collections

I'm kind of in a thrift funk right now. I guess I got shopped out from Christmas and haven't found any energy to get back in the swing of it. That with the fact it's really cold here and I don't feel like dragging a two year old out in it.
Anyway, the few times I have gone I haven't found much. Maybe I should take a break until Spring. It's nice to think that garage sale season will be coming up too.
Since I haven't found much of anything new, I thought I would post a few pictures of the things I collect. Things that I have found at thrift stores, garage sales, etc.

Fire King mugs...

Vintage cards...

Vintage tablecloths..

The Grass is Always Greener

No really, it is.

This is my Mom's backyard in January.

This is my backyard this morning.

My Mom sees dolphins in her backyard.

I see squirrels.

Yeah, I know, the snow is pretty. But it won't be for long.
By Tuesday is will be a dirty, grey mess.
It's times like these that I am ready to move South.

Masters of Tantrum Yoga

Aren't these T-shirts the cutest? Aren't my tantrum yoga masters the cutest?
Oh yes, they look peacful and happy. But they are actually in the "calm before the storm" position.
This comes right before Ruby tears into the "screaming banshee" and Billy assumes the "stomping elephant".

Want to know where I got these rad shirts?
Why from FADIDDLE of course. Cuz it's for kids, you know.
Go check it out.

2007-
Where in the hell did you come from?

Tomorrow is now
-Eleanor Roosevelt

That's good cause now is today. S'up! S'up! S'up!
-My Brother

It seems like only yesterday I used to think about the year 2000 as way in the future. "I'll be 30 years old!"
Now it's 2007. The decade is coming to a close.Time goes so fast. In the blink of an eye.
My New Years resolution. To quit wishing my life away and try to stay in the moment.
No more "I can't wait till Summer" or "I can't wait till the kids are in school". Or even "I can't wait till nap time". Waiting on things in the future to bring happiness doesn't work.
Happiness is now.
