Katie Holmes due date is fast approaching and in keeping with Scientology's teachings she is having a silent birth. Are you kidding me, a silent birth? With no drugs? Only a man could come up with that shit. Can you say patriarchal?

I don't think anyone can say anything, but it's the fact that the mother has to be silent that seems a little too weird for me.
not only can nobody speak during the birth - nobody is allowed to speak to the child for like 1-2 weeks after the kid is born. forget everything you know about brain development and nurturing. can you say stupid? or better yet, can you say ABUSIVE?
yeah, I said she's going to have to do a Sally Fields "Not without my daugher" escape pretty soon.
