You Can't Have It Both Ways
I'm going to elaborate on one of my random thoughts from yesterday. Dr. Phil's wife a.k.a Robin McGraw. She has always bugged me. The way she sits in the audience every show comes off as too "little woman" for me. I can admit that's judgmental on my part since I have no idea what she is like as a person and maybe that's the problem. It's the same way I feel about Laura Bush. They are in the public eye, we know them for who their husbands are, and it stops there.
Last week my being "bugged" by Robin turned into "highly irritated". She was on stage with Dr. Phil talking with a 66 year old woman who lied about her age on her Internet dating profile. This woman felt that no one would be interested in her if she told her real age. It's was then that Robin opened her mouth and had the gall to say that she never lied about her age. ROBIN! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Your face is pulled so freakin' tight I'm surprised you can even blink! She has spent thousands of dollars lying to herself about her age. I would of had some respect for her if she had fessed up to not wanting to look older (who wants to?) or had addressed our society's worship for the young and fear of growing old. Nope, she sat there and said that she liked telling people her age because inevitably people always say "You don't look 52!". She needs to schedule some professional time with her hubby but he's a fucking hypocrite too.
My favorite example of this was the show that had three flat chested girls as guests, and they were arguing the case for boob jobs. If they convinced Dr. Phil of a true need for one he would pay for it. I had heard Dr. Phil talk about plastic surgery before and he always made the point that in most cases what needed fixed was something on the inside. I watched this show with some personal interest being flat chested myself, I wanted to hear that a woman's worth is not her breast size, something I came to terms with a long time ago. NOPE! He gave boob jobs to all three of them. And the convincing reasons? It would help their self esteems and make their bodies look more proportioned, that was it.
I've never looked at Dr. Phil as some serious show that's going to fix the ills of society, it's entertainment. At this point I find it so hypocritical it's not worth the little bit of entertainment it offers. I'm done with Dr. Phil. I've switched to Ellen. Her show is infinitely more uplifting. As Cameo and I have agreed upon, if you're having a bad day, nothing can cheer you up like watching Ellen shake her booty.

I think Robin and Laura are going for the "behind every great man is a woman." But how great are their men? (Dr. Phil - it's not hard to look smart when there are so many loco people and you can always use the edit feature to make them look even more insane.)
I love cranking the TV when Ellen dances! I've always wanted to throw a big party and have Tony come to DJ. Whahoo that would be Fun!

But I am even more with you about Dr. Phil's wife. She makes me crazy. I mean her big claim to fame is that she is someones wife. And so hypocritical as you have pointed out. Ug

I used to watch it when i thought i was having real psychological advices. But no. That has proven to br wrong.

And think of Paris Hilton. That woman is flat chested and she has the money to do whatever she wants and look at her - proud of being so. With that one, she deserves my thumbs up!
I never liked Robin either. She has that same smugness that Laura has. I'd like to bitch slap both of them for being so smarmy.
I don't watch Dr. Phil much but I'm a bit disappointed that he gave in to the boob job thing.
Yeah..I'd love to be more proportioned, too, but as I lamented in that RHOC post a couple weeks ago, everyone running out and getting boob jobs just perpetuates this false picture of femininity.
Apparently Dr. Phil disagrees. He can spin it any way he wants but obviously he buys into it, too. Puh! Fuck 'em both.
I agree; Ellen's booty-shaking is MUCH more entertaining.

I hate Dr. Phil. I've read some really horrible things about the way he actually treats people on that show. I can't remember whose blog it was on but it was pretty recently. He gives terrible advice that could seriously hurt people (my mom and all her friends are therapists, so I hear a lot about this kind of stuff).
And even though I fully intended NOT to like Ellen, because it seemed such a trendy thing to do, she is really funny and personable! I totally like her show.
Since Dr.Phil paid for those girls boob jobs to make them look more proportional, maybe he could also pay for Robin's eye enlargement. She’s got such a big head with those tiny eyes. If she’s not in need of a good proportioning then I don't know what is.
I love dr. Phils show and always get a little upset when somebody disses him. But I choked when he said he didn't want his wife to not look her age. To use one of his own quotes: did somebody step in here and staple "dumb" on my forehead?
Robin was on Rachael Ray today, talking about how she looks how shes does because of her "natural beauty regimen". Hah! She looks like she's pumped so full of botox, she belongs in a wax museum. I'm glad someone else finds her irritating. I thought I was the only one!
Thank Goodness, I totaly agree with you, about Robin McGraw. That woman has had so many cosmetic procedures her face looks as if it's made of plastic. I think it's hilarious that she sits on TV everyday with that blank expression on her face. Today she was admonishing a woman who wanted a face lift and said that she, Robin, would never have a barbaric face lift. ha ha ha No, she only has face lifts aren't barbaric. ha ha Oh, and her teeth aren't real either!
Yeah seriously she is so freakin annoying and what a hypocrite, she has most definetly had a ton of plastic work, lipo, boobs and her face is so tight bet she can hardly blink. Both hav eturned into big fat phonies. And did ya know Phil was married once befor and cheated on his first wife?
If you really want to know the truth behind Dr. Phil you have to read 'The Making of Dr. Phil' where it is talked about things such as the fact that Dr. Phil has been stripped of his license to practice psychology. And he supposedly cheated on his first wife.
Also, Robin has obviously had breast augmentation surgery: no woman of that physique has breasts that size - just compare them to her upper arms, for instance.
Robin mcgraw needs to live in reality just read her twitter! She doesnt have a clue what the real world is!She spends all day primping or in the drs getting hormones or the dentist getting caps!! Which by the way are hugh for her mouth!!

How about: Perfume,make up, candles, books, etc etc. I hate her twangy accent. I am sure she is getting speaking lessons because sometimes she loses her twang.

Robin's constant focus on "charity" is ridiculous, just to get a tax write-off. How come nobody has commented on the fact that she is the worst freaking commentator in the universe? Those freaking annoying hand gestures that seem so phony. God her face is so weird; it has literally not one wrinkle on it but she still looks so old. And the way she dresses like a weird Marie Osmond doll! Her eyes are like little slits and her annoying lisp. I can't take her for five seconds. I would love to see her try to launch a charity that is not promoted and assisted by her husband.
She bragged that she gave 50,000 away and I just did the math on my computer and it is .1% of what Dr. Phil made in one that is one year. So they're literally writing about giving the equivalent of 100th of a penny.
I used to like Phil way back before he became a self righteous blow hard...and Robin ..Please...her latest crap that he is promoting bandaids for kids with kitties and puppies on them for kids and baby wipes/tissues with the stupid baby names...like they really need the money and theres not a million of those things already out there (how original) and her overpriced skin creams that dont work like all the other celebs. She is so fake I want to gag when shes on the show!!! I wouldnt have a problem with him promoting someone who deserved it. Wake up Doc!

What is annoying about Robin McGraw, is she plugs her skin care line of "anti-aging" and "anti-wrinkle" creams when she's had all this cosmetic surgery. Using her husbands show to plug these products, and mascarade as some advocate on anti-aging, when she's clearly the poster child for plastic surgery. I'm not against cosmetic surgery, but dont mascarade as some kind of advocate, when your face is not the result of those products.

Why does Robyn look like a TWIG!! She has to be anorexia. I think the guy that always sits next to her is there In case she faints, she’s so skinny. This is my opinion only. But she has definitely lost way to much weight.
Robin has always irritated me! I'm not going to body shame her or anything like that. She just acts like its her show and her shit doesn't stink. When they walk off and talk, its just disgusting. Fake is what she is,obviously she's had plastic surgery look at her mouth.

The way he hustles her out ( who does she look back and wave to? ), I think Phillip gets a special something from Robin at the end of the show or between shows…he pays her in plastic… plastic surgery. She had eyebrow repositioning surgery. Does she know a war is going on? Or that Skid Row is mere miles from that studio? Who does that? Have their eyebrows repositioned?
Evey time they cut to a shot of Robin during the show, she has a shocked look on her face and looks exactly like a blow-up doll.
Love how she goes on and on about those creams. That isn't just cream sweetheart. Then at the end of some shows they will have some naturally beauty in late 40 or 50's complaining about a couple of barely visible wrinkles and here she goes agreeing with the women to sell her ridiculous expensively stupid creams. Does the audience have eyes?
