God Bless America

Read about the injustice here. I think the old saying "As American as Apple Pie" is outdated. "As American as All You Can Eat Buffet" sounds so much more appropriate.

Oh my. That's insane. I don't even know who's side I'm on! I guess I'll have to think about that.

Waste not, want not.

I read that story too, and it's a tough one. On the one hand, there's the feeling that "buffet" equals take as much as your plate can hold whether you'll eat it or not. But the article said they were taking food they didn't eat, then going back and getting more of the same food and not eating it. What's up with that?

And that photo? Mmmmm, fried food.

When I read a story like this I can't help but think how spoiled we are as Americans. What would we do if something like the depression happened again? I personally can not stand buffets, it's quantity over quality. And I say that as the wife of a man who could put these places out of business. "You go home now! You big boy, you eat enough!"

What the heck? I can't believe that! I guess I'll make sure I wipe my plate clean next time I'm at hometown buffet. (wait, I don't go to hometown buffet...pheww...guess I'm OK.)

:)

I have to say I'm not sure who I want to side with. I think it's wasteful to take one bite and then go back for more without finishing what they took. Also, to throw someone out of a restaurant for that...maybe they should have received a warning or something first. All you can eat buffets (in my humble opinion) encourage gluttony and food waste.

I always side on the small business owners. I think I've got that chick's number and she's just an asshole who is litigious. People like that have got such a sense of entitlement that makes them throw away food at a small buffet place. I used to work in a clothing store and one day these women came in and tried on EVERYTHING in the store and then left without buying anything. Fine: it happens. But what if they came back EVERY DAY and pulled that shit? I think we'd have to take some action; sounds like the buffet place is doing just that. it's called not taking advantage of sweet deals. She is what you would call an a*shole.

Although I never get my money's worth, I'm a sucker for the local Mexican buffet. I LOVE me some fajitas. But it's true, we are spoiled rotten here.

Wow, I am pretty sure I have been guilty of this time and time again. I used to take a plate of each dessert and take one bite of each(that way it really only equals one dessert, duh).

rofl...I love that bit!

And as someone who abhors waste (I have an 80 yr old Depressona-era woman inhabiting my body) I can see what the owners were saying. But by the same token, is it that different from EATING the food? Either way it's not re-usable.
