Have a good weekend

I have nothing to post about. I just don't want that picture of the girl wearing the crotch floss at the top of my blog all weekend. So I guess I'll tell you about our big tv night.
It's on Thursdays and we watch "Survivor", "Earl" and "The Office". I think we are the only ones who still watch "Survivor", it doesn't have the buzz that it used to. I'm pulling for Terry to win. Mostly because he's the underdog but also because he's the oldest one out there and he's kicking ass in the immunity challenges. I liked Bruce too but he went bye-bye last week.
Both "Earl" and "The Office" were new last night so that was good. Jason Lee is a cutie and he knows how to rock the moustache. Him and Sam Elliot (remember the t-shirt he wears in the movie Mask?).
As for "The Office" it's genius. If you haven't seen it you are missing out.

It's That Time Again

Time to get half naked in front of total strangers. You know what I'm talking about.
Going to the pool.
Of course we need a swimsuit for this occasion. I've been shopping around on the Internet and I happy to inform you that there is a swimsuit out there for everyone................except me.

Mean Baby

We found this notebook at a gift shop last summer in St. Petersburg called Cherie's. The artist's name is Yoshitomo Nara. My husband picked it up and asked who it looked like. I just smiled. The pissed off expression and a big forehead? Why it looks like our little Miss Ruby Lou! If a stranger gets too close they get this look. I captured her "mad" face the other day. It's very similar to the "get the hell away from me" look. I like babies with attitude.

It's Monday Morning. Wake-up!

The things you find when you push the NEXT BLOG button?
A picture of Brad Pitt naked. Is it a doctored picture? If it is they did a good job. I know this is a family blog and I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but you know it is just a penis. You remember the whole women are from Venus and men are Martians thing? I think it has some validity. While I am kind of curious to see a pic of Brad Pitt naked, it would of been a whole lot hotter if he had undies on.

Oh yeah, and one more thought. Sit-ups are a good thing.

You Can't Have It Both Ways

I'm going to elaborate on one of my random thoughts from yesterday. Dr. Phil's wife a.k.a Robin McGraw. She has always bugged me. The way she sits in the audience every show comes off as too "little woman" for me. I can admit that's judgmental on my part since I have no idea what she is like as a person and maybe that's the problem. It's the same way I feel about Laura Bush. They are in the public eye, we know them for who their husbands are, and it stops there.

Last week my being "bugged" by Robin turned into "highly irritated". She was on stage with Dr. Phil talking with a 66 year old woman who lied about her age on her Internet dating profile. This woman felt that no one would be interested in her if she told her real age. It's was then that Robin opened her mouth and had the gall to say that she never lied about her age. ROBIN! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Your face is pulled so freakin' tight I'm surprised you can even blink! She has spent thousands of dollars lying to herself about her age. I would of had some respect for her if she had fessed up to not wanting to look older (who wants to?) or had addressed our society's worship for the young and fear of growing old. Nope, she sat there and said that she liked telling people her age because inevitably people always say "You don't look 52!". She needs to schedule some professional time with her hubby but he's a fucking hypocrite too.

My favorite example of this was the show that had three flat chested girls as guests, and they were arguing the case for boob jobs. If they convinced Dr. Phil of a true need for one he would pay for it. I had heard Dr. Phil talk about plastic surgery before and he always made the point that in most cases what needed fixed was something on the inside. I watched this show with some personal interest being flat chested myself, I wanted to hear that a woman's worth is not her breast size, something I came to terms with a long time ago. NOPE! He gave boob jobs to all three of them. And the convincing reasons? It would help their self esteems and make their bodies look more proportioned, that was it.
I've never looked at Dr. Phil as some serious show that's going to fix the ills of society, it's entertainment. At this point I find it so hypocritical it's not worth the little bit of entertainment it offers. I'm done with Dr. Phil. I've switched to Ellen. Her show is infinitely more uplifting. As Cameo and I have agreed upon, if you're having a bad day, nothing can cheer you up like watching Ellen shake her booty.

Random Thoughts

I'm feeling uninspired these days. That with a little touch of ADD. I can't think of anything of substance to blog about. I won't push it though, it has to come naturally. For some damn good blogging read this and this. And as for my random thoughts? These things have really gone through my mind, usually while I'm washing dishes.

Gene Pitney died. "The Man Who Shot the Liberty Valence" is a kick ass song.

Would today's kids starve if chicken nuggets were never invented?

Can't Tori Spelling afford a better boob job?

I miss Jack Handy's "Deep Thoughts".

My great-grandparents names were Peachie and Gay. Gay had two sisters named Minty and Lola and a brother named Babe. Those names kinda sound Southern Gothic.

Why do I know who Paris Hilton is?

If I was a lesbian, K.D. Lang would be my type.

Is the whole collagen lip thing over yet? It looks so desperate.

Dr. Phil's wife bugs me. Even more than Dr. Phil.

And one more thing that's been on my mind lately.
I really screwed up when I started this blog. I had no idea anyone but my family would look at it. So I plastered my name all over it. Dumb. So, if there are any stalkers out there I need you to know that my husband is big. And protective. He also has guns.
That makes me feel me better:)

Lazy post Monday

How was everyone's Easter. All I can say is I'm glad Twix does Easter candy because I can't do the peeps. Peeps and Circus Peanuts, they will survive the apocalypse.
One of my favorite Easter activities is coloring eggs.
I also like to get Buddha in on the festivities.

My little Ruby has become a ham. When she sees a camera she does the fakest smile she can. Looks kinda painful like she could pull a face muscle. I've had to become stealthy in my photography to get a pic of her natural "unaffected" beauty.

Who doesn't like a MEME?

Miss Izzay has tagged me to do the "six weird facts" meme. I have no problems with memes, I like writing them (narcissistic) and I like reading other people's (voyeuristic). And really, isn't that what this whole blog thing is about anyway? So here goes...........

1. I am not a fan of the "Chick Flick". I have never seen "When Harry Met Sally", "Sleepless in Seattle" or "You've Got Mail". I also have never watched an entire episode of "Friends".

2. Like Izzy I'm addicted to chapstick. Unlike Izzy my addiction isn't just at night, it's all damn day!

3. KFC coleslaw is one of my favorite foods. Now that's WEIRD.

4. My husband calls me his "Little Chicken".....and I like it.

5. I wash all of our new clothes before we wear them for the first time.

6. I'm the rerun queen. Some of my favorite TV shows like "Seinfeld", "Roseanne" and "Everybody Loves Raymond" I had never seen until they went into syndication.

I'm tagging Catherine.

Chemistry and Cousins

My world is about to get crazy. Chemistry crazy. This last month until finals we have a test scheduled every week. This stuff isn't a subject I can breeze through either, I have to work at it. I always loved those classes I could breeze through, they made me feel smart. And if I pass this class with a decent grade? I will feel persistent. A quarter of the class has dropped out by now. But not me, it was too expensive and the last thing I want to do is have to take it again. One thing that keeps me going is knowing this Summer is all mine. No more classes for me until the nursing program begins.
In other news..........

My Cousin was in town from San Francisco this weekend and stopped by to see us. This is this the first time I have seen him as C.J. instead of Curtis. You see he is a transvestite...no that's not it...a transsexual...is that the word? I don't know, I should have asked him, but I just don't think of these things. I have to say that he looked great and he seemed happier and more comfortable in his skin than I have ever seen him. I'm so happy he found his way to San Francisco and got the hell out of the Mid-West. My Aunt Sherry is in the picture too. She seems to be pretty cool with it even though I think it was hard for her at first. I have thought about how I would feel if one of my kids was gay and I have to say that I would be totally fine with it. Maybe a little surprised at first, but fine. I hope that we get to a time when it's not even an issue anymore.

PBS: The Preschooler Brainwashing Service

The Teletubbies are at it again. Trying to push their agenda on our poor, innocent, impressionable children. First they were trying to turn them gay, then it was the kiddie coke. Now it's guns. Wait......an army of 2 year old coked up, gay militants? Be afraid Pat Robertson........be very afraid.

Things I Love Thursday #4

Spring is here. This is a bush that flowers outside Ruby's window and with it comes all the glory of warmer weather. Wearing flip flops instead of socks. No coats. Playing outside. Daylight till late in the evening. Cooking on the grill. Windows open. Skirts and tanktops. Going to the pool. The smell of suntan lotion. No school. Fireflies and crickets. I could go on and on. Without a doubt, I LOVE SPRING! More Things I Love Thurdays.

Don't even get me started on swimsuits

I'm getting picky in my old age. Shopping for jeans has become a pain in the ass. I am on a quest for the perfect pair and so far I've been SOL. When did this happen to me? I used to go the store and buy a pair of jeans, no big freakin' deal. Now they have to be just the right length, not too baggy, not too tight, just the right color and make my butt look good. And one more thing. Not be so low waisted as to require a full off waxing!
That trend drives me crazy! It's not like I want them to be cut up to my navel, but for god sakes it grosses me out to see peoples thong poppin' out the back. And no I don't wear thongs. I'm old school and to me when underwear goes up your crack it's not a good thing.
So the low cut jeans are out for me. It also doesn't help that I have a 5" vertical scar starting right under my belly button from an emergency hysterectomy (a parting gift from Ruby's birth).
One thing I have noticed lately is that shirts are coming down longer. If you have to keep your tummy covered (like me) that's some good news.
I guess getting older and knowing what you like has it's benefits, but when it comes to clothes it's kind of a drag.

Seung & Tim's Wedding

Jim's cousin Seung looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress and her hanbok! The wedding was beautiful and the reception was a blast (Korean people know how to get down!) Good luck to Seung and Tim and may they have many more happy days!
